LEEP (Lowcountry Environmental Education Programs)

Founded in 1999, LEEP's mission is to provide the opportunity for all students to explore South Carolina's natural environment through experiential learning. LEEP offers programs to local schools and takes it a step further by assisting teachers in elimintaing many of the obstacles that prevent their students from participating in educational field trips. As of 2007, more than 1800 students in 20 different schools have participated in the Wetlands Learning Cycle class as well as other programs provided by LEEP. Through their organization LEEP is making a huge impact on the education of children as well as providing them with a sense of pride and ownership of their environment and a feeling of involvement in their community.
