Boeing South Carolina participated in its first humanitarian drop Sunday, sending nearly 1,600 pounds of medical supplies to children via a 787 Dreamliner from North Charleston to Kenya.

Kenya Airways and Boeing South Carolina partnered with First Baptist Church in Baytown, Texas, to transport medical equipment to Kajiado, Kenya.

The medical equipment and examination tables that were sent will benefit Kenyan children served by the Africa Inland Church Childcare Center in Kajiado. The center provides care and treatment for children with cerebral palsy and other disabilities.

Kenya Airways officials and flight attendants celebrated with Boeing officials during a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sunday at the North Charleston facility.
