Nonprofit, mayor call on Charleston to contribute to Ebola relief

Save More Kids, a California-based nonprofit, has called on Charleston to contribute toward Ebola relief in war-torn Liberia.

Ebola has infected about 18,500 people in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone this year. Nearly 7,000 have died.

Save More Kids, in collaboration with the International Longshoremen's Association and the state Maritime Association, will help alleviate the virus' toll by providing 50-pound bags of rice, bottled water and over-the-counter medications.
