What is the Foundation Center??

The Foundation center began as the Foundation center Library in New York City in 1956. It was meant as a " strategic gathering place for knowledge about foundations." In 1956, all of their resources would have been print resources (books). The Foundation Center still does publish books. We have several here at the Main Library. The majority of Foundation Center books that we have are Reference Books. In other words, you can use them here at the Main Library. However, you can't take them home with you. We do have many books on Grants and Grant writing that you can check out however. Today, the Foundation Center is an enormous database that has information on Grants, Grant Makers, and the Recipients of Grants. If you have any further questions or would like to schedule a 30-40 minute overview of the Foundation Center Resources, please contact me, Malcolm Hale, at halem@ccpl.org or (843) 805-6947.
