The Duke Energy Foundation has donated $25,000 to the S.C.
Aquarium to support the traveling environmental education outreach program
Rovers, underwriting service specifically to seventh-graders in Lee and Marion
counties.
East Cooper Community Outreach’s Adopt a Family and
Operation Fir projects are providing gifts and decorations to families. Adopt a
Family collects donated toys, books, bikes and other children’s gifts to
distribute for the holidays. The program has assisted 401 families, including
877 children, with 741 bags and boxes of toys since 2012. Operation Fir uses
monetary donations to deliver Christmas trees and decorations to families in
need.
Maris DeHart boutique, at 32 Vendue Range in Charleston, is
participating in the Curator Covets donation program by donating 20% of
selected sales through Feb. 28 to Lowcountry Orphan Relief. More information is
available online.
The Music and Oysters for Wildlife fundraiser will be held
from 1:30-6 p.m. Jan. 21 at Sewee Outpost, 4853 U.S. Highway 17 N. in Awendaw.
Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the gate and include all-you-can-eat
oysters and music. Proceeds will benefit Friends of Coastal South Carolina.
Localpalooza, a fundraiser to benefit several
Charleston-area nonprofits, is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 22 at 1630
Meeting St. in Charleston. Advance tickets are $15 through Jan. 15 and $18
afterward. Children 12 and younger get in free. Admission includes music, food
and activities for children and adults. Nonprofits to benefit from the proceeds
include Race 4 Achievement, We Are Family, Charleston Animal Society and
CharlestonGood.
