Crisis Ministries gets grant to help homeless vets

Charleston’s Crisis Ministries shelter has been awarded a $2 million grant to assist veterans and their families.

The award, from the Department of Veterans Affairs Supportive Services for Veterans Families program, allows the shelter to serve an additional 500 veterans and their families.

“This is an affirmation of the work we do to help our veterans and their families,” Stacey Denaux, CEO of Crisis Ministries, said in a news release.It will cover providing case management and supportive services to assist homeless veterans and those at-risk of losing their housing. The money can also go for assistance with rent and utilities.
