Trident Youth Service Day Financial Committee chair position available
Event Description
Tricounty Youth Service Day is our local celebration of Global Youth Service Day, an annual event that highlights and celebrates the contributions of youth to their communities through volunteer service. In 2009, over 600 youths from Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties completed over 30 service projects in their communities. In 2010, TYSD will be held on April, 24 2010, and we are expecting more involvement and a greater impact.
Fundraising/Finance Committee Description
- Work with TYSD Committee members to set a budget, create a plan to achieve fundraising goals
- Work with TYSD Chair to establish bookkeeping plan
- Work with PR committee to identify possible sources of funding for TYSD planning and the event itself and create a plan to approach/solicit
- Work with Projects committee to identify possible sources of funding for individual projects and coordinate the outreach among the various teams
- Provide technical help with individual grants for team projects
- Generate mailings/other outreach to appeal for corporate donations
- Create relationships with TYSD sponsors
- Develop a community ownership model, where community agencies donate goods for projects completed on their behalf
Seeking committee leader with the following experience
- Experience in fundraising, especially with larger community events
- Experience in working with local corporate sponsors
- Ability to assist in the mechanics of grant applications
- Ability to meet monthly with Committee members
