Helping Out for March 8, 2017
Helping Out highlights some of the many charitable events
and activities going on in the Charleston area. Submissions should be sent to

Lowcountry Wingapalooza will be held at 7 p.m., April 28 in
the Charleston Visitor Center Bus Shed at 375 Meeting St. The annual event
raises money for Eagle Harbor Ranch, a place for orphaned, neglected, abused or
abandoned children ages 4 to 21.
Wingapalooza features a collection of Charleston’s wing
restaurants, allowing attendees to sample and vote for their favorites. A panel
of culinary judges also will be sampling, judging and selecting award winners
in different categories.
Tickets include entrance into the event, a sampling of every
wing restaurant and the chance to vote for a favorite. Drinks and alcoholic
beverages can be purchased separately. Tickets are $20 each and can be
purchased online here.
Starting this month and running through May, Chase After a
Cure is offering an opportunity to raise money for cancer research and a second
chance for new year’s fitness resolutions with the Procrastinators Challenge.
Participants can sign up for one month or all three months
and select the number of workouts in that time period along with fundraising
goals.
Participants in the Procrastinators Challenge are encouraged
to share their fundraising page on social media using #CAACFitness. Prizes will
be given each month to the team/individual that raises the most money and for
those who work out and share the most.
Chase After a Cure funds research and clinical trials that
have the potential to help the lives of pediatric cancer patients. Since its
founding, the organization has provided more than $500,000 to pediatric cancer
research at the Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital.
