Nonprofit Spotlight
The great thing about my job is that I get the opportunity to meet some really creative people that care about their community and want to make a difference. Greenideaz.org is new nonprofit here in Charleston that is taking an innovative approach to environmental awareness and community involvement. Responding to a need for more organizations to support the community in sustainable and environmentally friendly actions, their mission is " to collect the thoughts, ideaz and concerns from the community on environmental issues, and implement a process to improve them; making it easier to live green and enjoy a more environmentally sound community."
Greenideaz.org encourages the community to post on their blog, http://charlestongreenideaz.blogspot.com/ , specific problems they feel need solving. Greenideaz.org in turn will raise funds to help solve the problem. Rather than focusing on one main issue their approach gives them the opportunity to be flexible in what projects they are involved in and what they can accomplish. In a time where environmental issues are still being defined this is extremely important.

I recently stumbled upon your Grant & Nonprofit Resources blog and think it's wonderful what you're doing! I tried to contact you via e-mail but the message bounced back. I am a part of the team at Trio Solutions Inc., a full-service marketing communications firm located in Mount Pleasant that serves nonprofit and health-care organizations throughout North and South Carolina. Any nonprofit can become a member of the 'Nook' for free and gain access to a library of articles, case studies, videos, suggested books, etc. that are geared towards helping them learn more about three important areas: marketing, event planning, and the Web. They can 'ask an expert' questions on these topics, can enter a 'community' page and network with one another or create discussions, and they can hear about a variety of local workshops and events that they may wish to attend. Nook members also have a special discount to MARCO Promotional Products' online store. All in all, the Nook is a unique haven on the Web where nonprofits can enjoy free advice and support.
