A crisis can happen anytime and impact any organization, even nonprofits. Learn from Dean Foster, President of Foster Associates Marketing Group, Inc. , how to prepare your organization for a crisis and the potential of a media and public firestorm.

Dean Foster is is a public relations and brand management professional whose career spans more than two decades. His work has been honored in the separate fields of journalism, public relations and advertising, including awards by the South Carolina Public Relations Society of America for Crisis Communications, Public Affairs and print / video materials.

His experience includes crisis management for Avondale Mills in the wake of the state’s worst train disaster and chlorine spill in Graniteville, S.C., Laidlaw Transportation’s Charleston County school bus program, emergency communication programs for water utilities and a global media announcement of the discovery of the CSS Hunley submarine.

Jamie Thomas, the library’s Public Relations/Marketing Manager, has 28 years experience in public relations, marketing and news reporting. She joined CCPL in 2005 after 15 years as PR director for Charleston County Government in a position created in the aftermath of Hurricane Hugo. Prior to Hugo, she was a reporter for The Post and Courier, including serving as Statehouse Reporter covering the Governor’s Office and General Assembly. She’s won more than 50 state, national and international awards, including the highest honor in North America for library public relations and the highest honor nationally for community education by a local government.
