Join us for a discussion about federal grants, including where to look for federal funding, the components of a federal grant application, the scoring process, and more.

Free Breast Health Education and Screening Information

The Lowcountry Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is pleased to announce Pink Sunday, a new community outreach program for breast health and breast cancer awareness open to all faith-based organizations within our 13 county service area. Sunday, October 25, has been designated as Pink Sunday, and the Lowcountry Affiliate will donate educational materials and incentives to registered churches and faith-based organizations. Materials are culturally appropriate for all audiences, including African-American and Hispanic.
The Lowcountry Affiliate serves the following counties: Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Hampton, Jasper, Orangeburg, and Horry.
Material pickup will be held in the following counties: Allendale, Beaufort, Colleton, Orangeburg, Charleston, and Horry.

Pink Sunday is a collaborative event between the South Carolina Komen for the Cure® affiliates and will reach women and men all over South Carolina with life-saving breast health and breast screening information.

Volunteer for THAT Big Book Sale

The Friends of the Charleston County Public Library will hold its annual big book sale at the Gaillard Auditorium, 77 Calhoun Street October 9-11 and they are looking for folks to help make sure they have a successful sale. Along with the obvious rewards of service to the community, volunteers will receive a book sale coupon and a tote bag. Click on the link to learn more about the sale and how you can get involved.

Homebuyer Workshops

The $8,000 federal tax credit for first-time home buyers is set to expire November 30th, 2009. The Homeownership Resource Center, a division of Family Services, Inc., is offering six free workshops for first-time home buyers. In addition, they’re giving one family or individual per workshop $3,500 to use toward their down payment.
